How to play

Minesweeper is played on a grid where a fixed number of mines are hidden at random. Your goal is to reveal every square that does not contain a mine. Left-click (or tap) a cell to open it. If it is safe, it shows a number: how many of its eight neighboring cells hide a mine. A blank cell has zero neighboring mines, so the board automatically opens the whole surrounding area for you.

Use the numbers to deduce where the mines are. When you are sure a cell hides a mine, right-click it (or long-press on touch, or turn on flag mode) to plant a flag so you do not open it by accident. The mine counter shows how many mines are left after subtracting your flags. Your very first click is always safe — the board is generated around it — so you never lose on move one.

You win when every safe cell is revealed. Open a mine and the game ends, revealing all the bombs. Pick beginner, intermediate, or expert to change the board size and mine count. Everything runs entirely in your browser — no account, no download — and your best time for each difficulty is saved on your device.

What do the numbers mean? Each number is the count of mines in the up-to-eight cells touching it. A cell with no number (blank) has no neighboring mines.

Are my best times saved? Yes. Your fastest time for each difficulty is stored locally in your browser and stays on your device between visits.
